The Baroque Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Poznan

The Baroque Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Poznan was founded in 2008 as a natural extension of the activities of the Institute of Historical Musical Instruments. The ensemble provides students with the opportunity to develop their real future professional lives, to try real work of musicians, to cooperate with professional artists that work in the field of historically informed performance. The orchestra's repertoire ranges from works intended for several instruments from the 2nd half of 17th century to large-cast operas from the mid-18th century. Due to the cooperation between faculties and also between other institutions, the ensemble gives concerts not only at the Academy of Music but also in other recognized concert halls in Poznań and throughout Poland. The Artistic Director of the orchestra is Jarosław Thiel.
