The Poznań University of Technology Choir “Volantes Soni” was founded in 1999 by Monika Kusz, a graduate of the Ignacy Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. From the very beginning the choir has been affiliated with the Academic Cultural Centre at The Poznań University of Technology. The ensemble brings together students, graduates, young staff members of the Poznań University of Technology and other universities, all united by a passion for singing.
Volantes Soni performs during important events held at the Poznań University of Technology. It also promotes PUT by enriching the cultural life of Poznań during concerts on the most prestigious stages of the city. The choir has also organized and participated in charity concerts, performing in Poznań churches, hospitals, special needs schools and orphanages.
The varied repertoire of the ensemble includes sacred music pieces and arrangements of folk and entertainment music. Volantes Soni takes up artistic challenges as well by performing such great vocal-instrumental pieces as Missa Criolla by Ariel Ramírez, Quo Vadis by Feliks Nowowiejski, The Lublin Wedding by Tadeusz Szeligowski and Requiem in D minor by W.A. Mozart.
Furthermore, the choir has participated in many international and national competitions and choir festivals at home and abroad, winning numerous awards. The choir has visited the Czech Republic, Spain, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Northern Ireland.
The most recent awards include:
2016 – First Prize in the university choir category and honourable mentions for the best performance of a piece on the theme of the Lord’s Prayer at the 2nd National Festival of Worship Song “Pater Noster” in Strzepcz.
2015 – Second Prize at the 4th St John Bosco National Choral Competition in Aleksandrów Kujawski
2014 – Gold Diploma at the 3rd National Festival of Hymns to Mary “Ave Maria” in Chojnice
2013 – Gold Diploma and second place in the category of Catalan music and two Gold Diplomas in the category of sacred music and folk music at the International Festival and Choir Competition “Canco Mediterrania” in Lloret de Mar, Spain.
The ensemble treasures a warm atmosphere and cherishes a tradition of giving a tongue-in-cheek welcome to new members of ‘the Volantesi family’. The creative joy that every singer brings to the ensemble is one of the most important assets of the choir.
Since 2005 the conductor of the choir is Paweł Łuczak, Phd, assistant lecturer in the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań.

Wszystkie szczeble edukacji artystycznej, od szkoły podstawowej do Akademii Muzycznej, przeszedł w Poznaniu. W 2004 roku ukończył studia (dyplom z wyróżnieniem) na Wydziale Dyrygentury Chóralnej, Edukacji Muzycznej i Muzyki Kościelnej, w klasie dyrygentury prof. Przemysława Pałki w Akademii Muzycznej im. I. J. Paderewskiego w Poznaniu a w 2010 roku ukończył studia magisterskie na wydziale wokalnym tej akademii w klasie prof. Andrzeja Ogórkiewicza. W latach 2004-2006 odbył Podyplomowe Studia Emisji Głosu w Akademii Muzycznej w Bydgoszczy.W 2013 roku ukończył kurs mistrzowski dla dyrygentów chóralnych: International Conducting Masterclass w Marktoberdorf w Niemczech. W maju 2015 obronił doktorat na Akademii Muzycznej im. I. J. Paderewskiego w Poznaniu. Od 2000 roku jest dyrygentem Chóru Parafii Farnej w Poznaniu a od 2005 roku pełni funkcję dyrygenta Chóru Politechniki Poznańskiej „Volantes Soni”, z którymi zdobywa liczne nagrody i wyróżnienia na konkursach międzynarodowych i ogólnopolskich. Zajmuje się też działalnością dydaktyczną wśród Polaków mieszkających za granicą, współpracując ze stowarzyszeniem „Wspólnota Polska” oddział w Koszalinie i w Poznaniu. Od 2006 roku jest asystentem dyrygenta Chóru Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Poznaniu, prof. Przemysława Pałki. Jest także laureatem wielu nagród indywidualnych dla najlepszego dyrygenta konkursów i festiwali chóralnych Od 2012 roku Paweł Łuczak jest nauczycielem akademickim w Akademii Muzycznej im. I. J. Paderewskiego w Poznaniu.
