Soloist Ensamble of the AMU Chamber Choir, Poland
The project Sanctimonialis autem femina was prepared for the 2nd edition of the festival Polish Music Rediscovered organised by the National Centre for Culture. The concert took place on 26th November 2016 in the church of the Visitation of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary in Warsaw and it was one of the four festival concerts which presented unrecognised or recently discovered pieces of Polish composers.
For this occasion the soloists of the AMU Chamber Choir formed two female choirs as the repertoire consisted of anonymous motets and songs written for 8 female voices. The pieces from manuscript L 1643 of the Diocesan Library in Sandomierz including Laetamini in Hierusalem, Salve Anna Sanctissima, Angele Dei, Vulnerasti cor meum, Tua est potentia, Sanctimonialis autem, Kolęda wdzięczna Christus zmartwychwstał jest, alleluja and Exultate Deo used to be performed in the 17th century by Polish Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict. The printed sheet music from 2012 is the result of the musicological work by dr hab. Magdalena Walter-Mazur from the Institute of Musicology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and her student Sonia Wronkowska.
The concert, held as part of the 13th edition of the International Festival “Universitas Cantat 2017”, is an exceptional opportunity for the inhabitants of Wielkopolska to listen to the programme. Polychoral music will be performed in the beautiful interior of the Franciscan church on Wzgórze Przemysła (Przemysł Hill) in Poznań.
