Poznań University of Medical Sciences Mixed Choir, Poznań, Poland
Poznań University of Medical Sciences Mixed Choir in Poznań has existed since 1959. It consists of students and graduates of the University of Medical Sciences and other higher education institutions in Poznań. It is an important artistic element of its mother university, giving concerts during numerous academic ceremonies. It takes an active part in the cultural life of the city and the country. He has won over 30 top prizes and distinctions at music competitions and festivals in Poland and Europe. He has repeatedly cooperated with the symphony orchestra of Poznań Philharmonic, Koszalin Philharmonic,
Academy of Music in Poznań, M. Karłowicz Second Degree Music School in Poznań as well as International Orchestra of Medical Students (EMSO) and International Doctors Orchestra (EDO). He has also given concerts in Germany, Croatia, Spain, Great Britain, Austria, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Greece, Holland, Italy, Hungary and Belarus. Recently – during a difficult pandemic in which the choir's life was transferred to virtual reality - the choir managed to win a number of awards at online competitions organized, among others, in Rzeszów, Chełmno and
Wrocław.
Przemysław Pałka – conductor, professor of music. In 2012-2019, Dean of the Faculty of Choral Conducting, Music Education and Church Music at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, and from 2019 to 2021, Director of the Institute of Artistic Education. At the Poznań Music Academy he teaches a class in choral conducting. He has cooperated with the Poznań and Koszalin Philharmonics. He has conducted concerts with the participation of W. Wiłkomirska, C. Niemen, W. Malicki, and J. A. P. Kaczmarek, among others. Juror of festivals and choral competitions in Poland, Switzerland and Spain. As a valued lecturer at the Polish Studies for Conductors and numerous courses, he helps to constantly improve the professional qualifications of conductors and the artistic level of ensembles, contributing to the popularization of Polish music around the world.
Aleksandra Pałka - graduated with honours from the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the choral conducting class of prof. dr hab. Magdalena Wdowicka-Mackiewicz, specializing in choral conducting (2014) and music education (2016). A graduate of sociology at the A. Mickiewicz University (2010). She is working as an assistant at the Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Vocal Studies, Music Theory and Artistic Education of the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan. She has published and presented on conferences papers on sociology of music.
